I first had the opportunity to photograph Amanda and Andy in Birmingham 4 weeks earlier for a pre wedding shoot, the weather was great and we had a lovely few hours in the local park, they both got an idea of how I work and also I got to know them in front of the camera.
So when it came to the big day we were not so lucky with the weather, strong wind and lots of rain. Not ideal conditions for a wedding but the spirits were not dampened all day.
I met up with the boys while they were having breakfast, everyone was in a great mood, not worrying about the weather and really chilled. I got a few shots and then left them to it. I then went off to meet up with the girls while they were getting ready. Amanda and the rest of the girls were nice and relaxed and just having a great time slowly getting ready.
It was then off to the lovely St. Cybi's church in Holyhead. The weather still hadn't lifted as guests arrived but they all had a smile, A sign of a good day to come. After a beautiful ceremony I managed to get some shots outside before it was off to the Trearddur Bay hotel for the reception.
Being by the coast, it was getting the brunt of the weather so a little improvisation was called for when it came to the group shots. This meant using the heated pool room, being warm and out of the wind and rain which kept all the guests happy and I managed to get a few shots of the happy couple too before everyone settled down for the wedding breakfast.
After food the speeches were broken out and laughter continued into the evening where Amanda and Andy went on to dance the night away with friends and family.
Overall a challenging day with lots of improvisation to get the best out of the light but Amanda and Andy were amazing and didn't let the weather get in the way of a fantastic day. Wishing you both all the best for the future.
