Thanks Dave! We absolutely love them! You are amazing :) I loved my first meeting with Ceri and Steve, it was such a laugh. They enquired with me after a friend of theirs gave them my name, he is a pro photographer that I have been following for a while, so for him to recommend me was great. We met up and chatted about wedding stuff, Ceri proceeded to get out a list that was downloaded off the internet. One of those generic "things to ask your photographer" type lists. We had such a giggle going through them, this summed up what a fun couple they are and by the time I was home they had already emailed to book me. Happy days. They were getting married at the fabulous Tyn Dwr Hall in Llangollen, this new wedding venue is just stunning. A mock Tudor manor house set in a stunning garden. It has everything from a bell tower to big open hearth fireplaces. A grand staircase and a stunning terrace out the back, all surrounded by trees, wildflowers and even has a waterfall. Such a beautiful day surrounded by beautiful people having a great time. I could go on about how much fun the day was but I think you should scroll down and check out Ceri and Steve's wonderful wedding story for yourself. If you enjoyed Ceri and Steve's awesome wedding day and feel like you would like to vote for me in the Wesh National Wedding Award then please click on the link above.

What an absolutely gorgeous couple Alaina and David are, in fact, the first time I spoke to Alaina we had such a lovely conversation on the phone, we talked for so long, it was as if we had known each other for ages. I knew then I really had to photograph their wedding.
They both live in London but had fallen in love with Nant Gwrtheyrn, they knew that was where they were going to get married, all they had asked for was sunshine. So one very Sunny but cold morning in January, that is exactly what they did. Nant Gwrtheyrn is such a lovely place, a former quarrying village, it lies hidden away in a deep valley near the sea. I hadn't photographed here for a while so it was nice to be back. I love the atmosphere when you are down in the village, it feels so secluded from the outside world, surrounded by mountains. one very steep road in and out. Some of the guests had mentioned that they had arrived in the dark, I can just imagine what it was like seeing the place for the first time. There are so many lovely places to photograph around the village and you might even get a beautiful sunset if you are lucky. What a fantastic day with amazing people. So much emotion, laughter and all round fun all mixed in with some beautiful light made this day such a joy to photograph. Please scroll down and enjoy the day as it unfolds. When you are passionate about the outdoors, and you love the mountains, and you are getting married, then where is the best place to do it? When you live in Cornwall you are no stranger to amazing scenery but for Katie and Nigel it was a no brainer, they love North Wales and chose a spot right in the heart of Snowdonia. Nant Gwynant is a stunning valley nestled below mount Snowdon, it has a beautiful lake and a gorgeous wedding venue in the form of an old converted barn where Katie and Nigel tied the knot in the company of friends and family. The day started with a rainbow, the ceremony was lit by gorgeous sunlight, they had photos under dark skies surrounded by mountains and a lake. All topped off by roasting marshmallows over an open fire and dancing well into the night. It is hard to describe how amazing and scenic this wedding day was so please scroll down and watch the day unfold. I hope you liked this wedding story, if you think Dave Willis photography would fit into your wedding day then please get in touch.
I love my job and I absolutely love photographing weddings, with a passion. I consider it a huge honour to be asked to capture someone's big day. You get to meet so many different people and witness so many personal moments. All on a day where there is so much emotion, tear's and laughter, everyone is having fun. Weddings bring out the best in people and capturing those moments forever is truly an awesome job. To top off another amazing year I was shortlisted again for best wedding photographer in North wales, Thank you to all the brides and grooms who booked me and everyone who voted for me, it means so much. Which leads me to this post. This is my big 2016 favourite photos wedding blog, a mix of candid moments, portraits and details that really stand out to me. They got married in Trearddur Bay earlier this year and had their reception at the Trearddur bay Hotel. I started the day with the girls, everyone was nice and relaxed, I had a lovely time photographing them getting ready. I then met up with the boys at the church in Trearddur bay, as always, Jay was nice and chilled, all ready for the arrival of his bride to be. After a wonderful ceremony and a few quick photos outside due a heavy rain shower, we all headed over to the Trearddur Bay Hotel for the reception. The sun gods were on my side and after the showers had passed we headed out again for some more photographs. Sometimes you just get lucky with the weather and this was a day when it all just fell together. Despite a few heavy rain showers throughout the day we managed to get all the outside shots done. As a photographer I have a good idea of what my couples want and always do my best to get it, so despite heavy clouds and the impending rain shower, we took the risk, and after the speeches we headed out for a walk along the beach. I could see the concern on the couples face regarding the aproaching rain storm, but Llio and Jay trusted me to get the shots done, without them getting a massive soaking. Two minutes after getting back it absolutely hammered it down. Dodged a bullet right there, but sometimes you just have to take a risk to get the best shots for your couple. I left the happy couple dancing the night away with friends and family. Please scroll down to see the day as it unfolds. When a wedding takes place in and around the most beautiful landmarks of a city, then you know it's going to be a good day. This wedding had it all, a ceremony in a beautiful cathedral, followed by a walk along an old pier and a reception in a university. Sian and Andrew got married in the city of Bangor and what a fabulous day it was.
I started the day photographing the girls at Sian's parents’ house in Llanfairfechan, there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and I had a great time. Then I headed off to the stunning Bangor Cathedral, it is such a beautiful building and just amazing for weddings. I caught up with Andrew and the rest of the boys for a few shots before leaving him to greet his family and friends, before the arrival of Sian. The Cathedral is so big, there is so much space to move around and get shots whilst still being discreet. Sian and Andrew's ceremony was so nice, punctuated with amazing singing from friends, which brought the whole cathedral to life. After the ceremony, and whilst family and friends went off to the reception, Sian and Andrew headed to Bangor pier for a lovely walk and a few photos. The reception was being held in the University of Bangor, such fantastic venue. The weather was great so everyone was outside enjoying a drink or two. I love shooting here, so many places to get good shots from. After the group shots and food was all done, it was time for the speeches, which were so funny. We then headed off around the grounds for a few more shots before the dancing started. Scroll down to enjoy the day as it unfolds. What an absolute stunner of a wedding this was, the weather was perfect, and the people were fantastic. You know it's going to be a fabulous day when there are cakes and sausage rolls being handed out to everyone outside the church, after the ceremony. The morning started with some preparation shots of Ffion and the girls as they got ready, everyone was in high spirits, the sun was shining and the forecast for the rest of the day was good. I then headed down to catch up with the boys for a few shots at the lovely church of St Gwynins in Dwygyfylchi where the happy couple were getting married. After the ceremony, once everything was official, everyone made their way back out into the sunshine to congratulate the happy couple, throw confetti, whilst indulging in welsh cakes and sausage rolls, oh yes! This was a first for me at a wedding but what a fantastic idea. It was then on to Tre Ysgawen hall for the reception, I have shot plenty of weddings here and it never fails to disappoint. There are so many good places to get photos. Following some very funny speeches, Ffion and Llyr headed out for a walk around the grounds, the sun was low in the sky and the light was just beautiful, perfect for some intimate shots. Once the sun had gone down it was time to party, the first dance was so good and Llyr busted out his signature crab move, awesome! What a fantastic day with amazing people. Scroll down to enjoy the day as it unfolds. I hope you all enjoyed this small collection of shots from the day, feel free to leave a comment below.
The voting for the welsh national wedding awards is now open so If you liked what I did then please vote for me by clicking on the banner below. voting is only open to the wedding party (bride, groom, mums, dads, bridesmaids, groomsmen) Region 5 and my e-mail is [email protected] I was back once again, to the beautiful Italian inspired village of Portmeirion, in North Wales. Having shot quite a few weddings here over the years, with all the colourful buildings and gardens, it never fails to inspire me. There are always new places to find and seeking them out is all part of the fun. It is such a wonderful backdrop for a wedding and this time it was Ffion and Alec who were getting married. I had already photographed them on a pre-wedding shoot on Anglesey and I was looking forward to photographing their wedding day. Arriving nice and early to the village, the light was gorgeous and the forecast was great for the whole day. I popped in to see the girls who were all excited and having fun getting ready. I snapped away for a while, before heading off to see the boys who were getting ready in Castell Deaudraeth, just up the road. Then it was time for the ceremony, the excited guests settled down in the lovely Hercules hall to await the arrival of the bride. After the beautiful and emotional ceremony, some laughing, crying and confetti, everyone went down to the hotel. Here we did a few group shots before it was time for the wedding breakfast. There were a few speeches, before Ffion and Alec sped off in the buggy to the Japanese Garden. This lovely area of the village is out of the way and really quiet in the evening, perfect for a little stroll and some photos. We then headed into the main village for a few more shots. Before we knew it, it was time for the party to start and guests joined the happy couple on the dance floor after they had their first dance. We were treated to an impromptu dance-off from the boys and plenty of other guests joined in the dancing too. Just as it was getting dark everyone was ushered down to the hotel again for a surprise firework display. Here ended my time in the village, it was an absolutely fantastic day. Scroll down to see the story for yourself. I hope you all enjoyed this small collection of shots from the day, feel free to leave a comment below.
The voting for the welsh national wedding awards is now open so If you liked what I did then please vote for me by clicking on the banner below. voting is only open to the wedding party (bride, groom, mums, dads, bridesmaids, groomsmen) It was pretty quiet in the village of Betws Y Coed when I met up with Iona and Mark for a pre wedding shoot. They are getting married in a couple of weeks in the wonderfully colourful village of Portmeirion and wanted to have a bit of time in front of the camera to get used to it. So we opted for a nice little walk through the woods and down by the river. Stopping off now and again for some shots, we made it to the Miners bridge before heading back to Betws. What a fantastic time, they were both so comfortable in front of the camera. I can't wait to photograph the wedding.
I do love family lifestyle shoots, they are so much fun to photograph. The kids always have a great time and their parents too. This one was at Newborough, and even the dog came along too. We went for a nice walk through the woods, stopped off for a little while to take some photos, then we headed to the beach for a few more shots. The two children just loved messing around in the sand.
